To use, drag Kapture to any track (MIDI, audio, return or Master) in your Live Set. This lesson is accompanied by a Live Set with which you can introduce yourself to Kapture by triggering the scenes to play sounds and trigger snapshots. See how the mixer parameters are modified by loading snapshots. Have a look at the devices on "Main" and Return C "Chain", notice how they also change. Kapture will even snapshot VST/Audio Unit parameters as long as these parameters have been configured. Creating a snapshot is very easy: click on the Kapture button. Recalling a snapshot can be done in one of two ways. -> Click on the drop-down menu and select the snapshot from the list. -> Add a MIDI track called 'Kapture' to your Live set. Create a blank clip and give it the same name as the snapshot you want to recall. This allows you to recall snapshots by launching clips. /Advanced tip:/ Try using Follow Actions on clips in the 'Kapture' track for interesting rhythmical effects. Click /Next Page/ below to learn about the snapshot filter. $Comment -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $Page Snapshot filter $TargetName Snapshot filter Filter.tif One of the most powerful features of Kapture is the /snapshot filter./ This tells you which parts of a snapshot are recalled or ignored. By default, all mixer parameters are recalled and all device parameters are ignored. /A word of warning:/ You can ask Kapture to recall all device parameters for all tracks (by checking all boxes in the Devices column) but this can easily overload the API. The audio won't usually be interrupted, but the GUI might be a bit slow to catch up. Best practice is to check boxes only for those tracks you really need. $Comment -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $Page Conclusion $TargetName Conclusion /Saving your snapshots/ Kapture snapshots are always saved with the Live Set. When you reload your Set, all your snapshots will be waiting for you. So once you've started working with Kapture in your Live Set, don't delete the device or you will lose your snapshots too. /Credits/ Etienne Noreau-Hebert Gareth Williams John Acquaviva Nick Bugayev Richard Hawtin Stu Fisher Kapture was originally created for Richie Hawtin's Plastikman Live show.
