Each DM ARP 2600 Drum Kit contains 16 samples, assigned to pads in the Drum Rack. *Macro Control & Sound Processing* /Macros/ have been mapped to various controls to give fast access for altering the kit's sounds and effect processing. DM26rummacro8.tif Macro 1 (top left corner), controls the incoming /Velocity level./ This gives a simple control for overall kit velocity, useful for MIDI Devices such as MPC-style MIDI drum pads, which can have a varied velocity response. Individual processing of drum sounds can be achieved using the /Chain Mixer Fold Button/ at the top right of the /Track Title Bar./ This will expand the Drum Rack's Mixer, to allow volume, pan, FX Sends and bus routing for each drum sample. DM26rumsMixfold.tif All DM ARP 2600 Drum Kits contain a /Reverb, Dynamic Tube/ and /Chorus Delay/ effect chain. Using the /Chain Mixer/ functionality, you can adjust individual send levels for each. DM26rumSends.tif Send A will route the drum sample to the Reverb chain, send B to the Dynamic Tube, and send C to the Chorus Delay. You can adjust the return levels for these effects using the faders on the far right of the Chain Mixer. Additionally, we have mapped the /Return Levels/ on Macros 6, 7 & 8 to allow access when the Chain Mixer is folded in. Along with the Reverb, Dynamic Tube and Chorus Delay chains, all kits are routed through a global Auto Filter and Compressor. Macros 4 & 5 control the amount of global filter and compression, respectively. Macros 2 & 3 provide individual filter and resonance controls for either the kick drum or snare drum in the currently loaded kit. First off, lets load an DM ARP 2600 Drum Kit from the library. *Swapping Drum Samples* In order to change a drum sample in a kit, you'll have to open the Drum Rack. Click the /Show/Hide Devices/ button to the left of the Macros, or double-click the drum pad with the drum sample you want to change. DM26rumsopenrack.tif Here you'll see a Chain Mixer, a second set of Macro Controls, and to the right, a Simpler instrument which contains the drum sample. If you went for the double-click option, then you should already see the sample you want to change in Simpler's Sample Display window. If not, select the Chain in the Chain Mixer which has the corresponding drum sample name. Move your mouse to the bottom right corner of Simpler's Sample Display window and click the /Hot-Swap Sample/ button when it appears. DM26rumsSamhot.tif The File Browser will open and Simpler will direct its initial search to: Library/Samples/Flatpack/DM ARP 2600 Drums/[Sample Category directory]. This allows you to easily hot-swap between the 150 samples included in this Live Pack. You can also navigate to an alternative directory and select a sample from elsewhere. *Adjusting the Sample* You can quickly adjust the tuning, filter settings and envelope parameters for samples, using the pre-mapped Macros in the Rack. If you need to adjust further, Simpler's other parameters should cater for most needs. DM26rumsSmpMacro.tif To save your changes, scroll to the far left of the Drum Rack. Click the small floppy disk icon in the /Device Title Bar/ of the Drum Rack. The File Browser will open, giving you the option to change the name of the Kit. Press Return on your keyboard, and your changes are saved. The Drum Rack should now show your new kit's name in the Device Title Bar.
